Without exaggeration some of the absolute best soul food & southern cooking I've had in my lifetime. This place is semi-famous for being featured on not one but TWO different Food Network shows. A simple Google will fill you in on a rather dramatic backstory. But I'm here to talk about the food and fine people who run the place. They are probably most famous for their fried chicken & waffles. The waffle is a buttery monster that's both savory and sweet with a hit of cinnamon that perfectly compliments the chicken. The chicken itself is crispy & so moist and delicious. But plenty of other mains are offered on a rotating basis. Juicy, beautifully seasoned roast chicken. One of the best meatloaves I've tasted. A seafood gumbo which is probably their weakest dish but it still quite good. Fried pork chops the size of a child's head. Sides are arguably where things shine the most. If you like collard greens you MUST try theirs. The Mac & Cheese is rich, creamy and to die for. Sweet potatoes are divine. Even something as simple as the sweet corn is bomb diggity. I also want to acknowledge the staff is crazy friendly and always down to chat. Best time to go is weekdays as they get very very busy on Fridays & Saturdays. Just go already. You will not be disappointed. Say hi to Jeannie!
