Loahn Kelley Gallegos, M.D.

Dr. Gallegos seemed compassionate and attentive to her patients. Her staff seemed friendly and particularly helpful with the exception of one staff member who seemed to have a lot of animosity towards patients. I'm sure all her coworkers know who I'm speaking of, and have been witness to her abrasive way with others. I believe you have to have a certain quality to work with patients who are Ill, suffering or in pain. Medical workers, which include doctors, their assistants, nurses and their complete staff who are truly good at their jobs have a certain quality that makes them empathetic and understanding with patients. They seem to have a quality that makes them want to help which makes them very special people and those people are truly angels on earth. I believe they know this about themselves and strive be good generous souls. Others without those qualities should not be working in the health industry or with patients. Every person who goes in to see a doctor has an issue or problem and needs guidance and understanding, and this was true of Dr. Gallegos and her staff with the exception of one assistant who should not be working in the medical field. It is unfortunate for her because her attitude will catch up with her and she will not last in this industry for long and her superiors will recognize her abhorrent attitude and lack of compassion. She miscommunicated my needs and questions to Dr. Gallegos, and believe this to be true of her dealing with patients after speaking with others. This lack of understanding is in part youth and inexperience, whatever the cause, its inexcusable in her position in dealing with a vulnerable group of people and I hope she grows up enough someday soon and understands how her behavior and attitude can effect peoples' lives so dramatically. Its also very unfortunate that so many patients will be exposed to her ignorance of dealing with those in need. As a patient with a chronic illness, I suppose it's a learning curve. A learning curve, I would rather have done without. She is truly a weak and destructive link in an otherwise strong chain in the medical care that Dr. Gallegos' team provides. My Experience with this one staff member shows how one person can effectively destroy what otherwise was a helpful and extremely important part of the process that I endure to deal with a life changing chronic illness. Thank you, Dr Gallegos, Libby, Christine, and all of the staff who were helpful and kind to me. I am truly saddened to have to change physicians, but I need a caring supportive medical team and this has to be an entire team that truly has my health as a priority and takes my well-being seriously. The questionable trustworthiness of one assistant keeps this medical team from being complete and effective in improving my quality of life. I truly would rather not file a formal complaint but I must ask myself how this particular assistant is affecting others in my similar situation. I feel it could be complacent of me not to speak up and help others to avoid this avoidable experience.
